14th-Jul-2008 05:29 pm - Update: Am still alive
fandom batshit
Hello y'all, not trampled to death after all, but still wet (it was raining more than cats and dogs, I think it was raining St-Bernards.) Verdict of Linkin Park on the Plains: Fucking awesome. I still can't believe I got to witness that. I sang so much I lost my voice about 3/4 of the way and I needed to shut up for a few songs to be able to sing the last few ones. They give an amazing show, and I have even more respect for the guys now, because it sounded just as good as on the CD. It just rocked so much. The 17 seconds scream on Given Up REALLY was 17 seconds long (we counted)! On a few songs we even sang lounder than the singer so that's always a good sign. Really am not dissapointed in my week, with Stone Temple Pilots and now Linkin Park that I got to see live.

For those who didn't know, we still have a show coming up and I think this time it was announced all over the world: we have Paul McCartney playing the Plains this Sunday. Get this: IT'S FREE. FREE!!! First come first serve. Since we can fit about 100 000 (and there was about that last night for LP), I am going to get there early. I still can't believe he'll give a show here. I am not going to miss that for ANYTHING.
12th-Jul-2008 08:55 am - Ramblings on shows here this week
fangirls potc
This week here, we have the summer festival in Quebec City, which is awesome in and of itself already. We have shows on the Abraham Plains, which means you gather about 100 000 people in a field surrounded by the Parliament and the gates leading into the Old QC. It's amazing.

This year, it is Qc City's 400th anniversary, so they invited some big names and one of them was one of my favorite group ever, Stone Temple Pilots. I was so excited to see them on thursday. I'm still in shock about how awesome that show was. I was reliving my teens and singing my throat out. It was incredible. Not 100 000 people, though, paper says about 50 000 but they always understimate. There are some bad reviews here because the singer was very obviously stoned or drunk or a combination of the two. But as long as he can sing and do all the hits, I am not complaining. Wish I could show you, there are videos on Youtube, though they are not very good quality.

The cherry on top is coming up, though, with Linkin Park on sunday evening. I am so awaiting that show, y'all have no idea. It will be the most fuckingest incredible thing ever. People can't stop talking about it, everyone's going. They came to play in the arena here, and the tickets were about what, $150 at least? The pass for the whole WEEK is $30. I simply couldn't believe when they announced STP and Linkin Park. Usually we have one big star (usually Canadian if they can help it) and the rest is Quebec singers (which can be good too). So yeah, I invited my little sister to come up here, because she couldn't miss that either. There were no passes left, so I had to chase one down for a whole day and got one for $20 from someone at work who was clearly not interested by hard rock.

Recap coming up on Monday, if I am not trampled to death.

We went to see The Happening yesterday. It was good. But not as good as I thought it would. But M. Night Shyamalan? I still love you. That Lady In The Water tidbit is forgotten. You can rule the big screen. And you STILL got me to jump out of my seat. It reminded me of Signs. I was waiting for the Sixth Sense-ish punchline and... let's not spoil anybody.

But the point of this post is:

*breathes* Thank you. Now I'm only afraid it will be showing only in French here. If it does, I am going to go crazy. I cannot see this movie in French. I simply can't.

I've been all-a-giddy with the new spoilers and stills from the X-Files movie and I was all merry and sunshine lollipops.

And then they release the movie's title...*spoilers ahead*Collapse )

Sooo... apparently, the shoulder pain I have been having every time I worked on the cash at work - which means, every single effing day I worked - has caused me shoulder tendinitis. I went to the clinic Monday evening because I have been having pain in my shoulder in the last couple of weeks. After 2-3 hours of cash work, I couldn't lift my arm more than at 90 degrees without sharp pain. The doctor said it was shoulder tendinitis (he called it bi-something tendinitis, norus??) and put me on light work and anti-inflammatory meds for the week.

I'm just thinking that my MONTHS of complaining that I was always the one working the main cash at work - which means between 6-8 hours of doing the same movement over and over and over again - has given nothing and that I'll just have to go back working the cash after this week. My boss said I was one of his best cashier so it was normal they put me on the main cash, but a break once in a while would be appreciated. I probably haven't had a day off the cash (doing boxes on the store floor would be nice) since November. Now they have to pay me a full week's pay to place gum packets and batteries near the cash registers and pick up stuff the customers leave all around and replace them on shelves. It seems to be doing better but I'm afraid that I'll have to go back working the main cash as soon as next week... I don't have a doctor's paper to prevent them to do that. I had to get one to stop doing cash work this week, because just telling them I had shoulder pain did nothing. SIGH.
21st-Feb-2008 04:45 pm - How to screw up your brain...
fandom batshit
Okay, I love StumbleUpon. It threw me those two sites in a row and I just felt like I had to share.

Pinwheel effect I've seen this on another website and it was much more effective but this will do... don't worry, nothing will make you jump or anything. ;) My hand was wavy, yay, free drug-like effect!

How to find out which side of the brain you are using I freaked myself out... Apparently, the part of the brain you mostly use is the one opposite the hand you use. And the left side is for creative thinking and right side for language and memory and such, I don't really remember but I think it was something like this. So if you are right-handed (like me), you should be using the left part of your brain. Never say watching House doesn't make you learn stuff. So, at first, I only saw the lady spinning counter-clockwise, like I should. But then I started singing a song out loud and the lady started spinning the other way! I'm not convinced this actually shows the part of the brain you are using, but still, fun!

From starbuckx, with which I seem to disagree on almost everything when it comes to fandoms. But that's okay. We love a good debate. ;)

Comment to this entry with any fandom. If I'm knowledgeable enough in the fandom to have ships, I'll tell you one non-canon ship I like, one canon ship I like, and one ship I really don't like (either canon OR fanon). Then post this in your own journal to offer up the same responses.
18th-Feb-2008 03:34 am - Flist call-out: Beatles!
fandom batshit
Okay, so it's 3h30AM and I just don't want to go to sleep, so what do I do? Listen to some Beatles. I hadn't done that in a while. I'm always surprised how people my age simply don't know the songs except the really obvious ones. To me, it's an outrage - and I am sure some people on my flist will agree with that, uh madzilla. I am not the biggest fan in the world, of course. My mom used to listen to the songs when I was young and I just kept on listening by myself. I don't own albums, except the One album, so if the songs are not well-known, I probably don't have them on my playlist. I've added other songs I considered a must-have (And I Love Her, Please Please Me, Twist And Shout, Drive My Car, etc) but I feel like that isn't enough.

So, the point of this is, I want new songs! Suggest Beatles songs that you like, the lesser-known the better. I only have like 35 on my playlist, so there are plenty out there. :P

Tonight was an effing great episode. You need to write more like that. Forget the Survivor-like arc writing. Please, keep the new ducklings' involvement to the same level as tonight (like, not much). YAY for more Cameron. Now just bring Chase in and I'll be a happy fan. Let's remember that Wilson is made of awesome, that Foreman can have a few funny lines and that Cuddy used to kick ass.
